Subject: the 115 splice and ping

Message:
ok i'm going to mention both here
first my kid picked up a 95 Dak sport really cheap
when he called wanted to know if i could tow it to his house
asked why he told me
well to make it short i brought some wire
black tape and a wire cap
pulled the box under the hood and sure enough
the splice was busted and all green
well stripped them back showed him and told him when he got it home redo the splice
i added a little bit of wire on each
and screwed the cap on, taped it up
box back on
and yes fired right up

now the thing had a ping issue
plen was replace and full tune up
NGK fr5's
still pinged
after my personal experience
switching to a 180 Tstat
i decided to do some reading
and found another cause was hot spots in the heads
and these 3.9 and 5.2 & the 5.9s are known for it
so we did a flush and new t-stat 195 from nappa
still pinged
well to make this short too
i added water wetter
and no kidding guys the ping is gone
even floored up a steep hill
i want to know if anyone else has tried this stuff?

What is it and where did you get it? Have you taken temp readings as you went? I sold Amsoil for years back in the mid 70's. I had this thing for lowering operating temps. on engines. I put synthetic in a 73 VW Beetle and it lowered the air cooled engine temp. by 20+ degrees. So much that in Colo. it wouldn't warm up enough for cab heater that ran off the engine to heat it. I had to put in an Electric heater. I think cooler engines mean longer lasting engines, it just makes since. The engines are made to take the heat, but the attachments do not fare so well under heat stress. Let me Know, Thanks Curly

the coolent so it flows trew the hot spots most
will run around 10 to 20 degrees cooler
