I got an 02 dakota 4x4 with the 3.9L and the other day when i went to start it, it fired up the rpm's hit 1000 then they quickly dropped down and the truck quit. Started it back up again and it did the same thing. the only way to keep it running is to give it some gas. I checked for codes but showed up "P Done" Not to sure whats wrong with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

first thing, what's the condition of your battery? if it's suspect (slow cranking, 4yrs or older) you may want to have it load tested. 2nd check the TPS. 3rd then the IAC.

Did you get a bas tank of gas? Mine has done this back in last winter. Got a terrible tank of gas, truck ran so terrible I thought it was going to quit permanitly! If you suspect bad gas a can of HEET should help.
