Subject: TPS mod - do it or not??
IP: Logged

Message:
I took a reading of the volts to the TPS on my 3.9 and got .648. Need some opinions/advice on whether or not I should do the mod since it's fairly close to .7. Will I see much difference in performance?
Thanks.

I'd leave it alone as well if you are that close.

If it's that close, don't bother doing the mod...you prolly won't notice even the slightest difference.

The only performance difference this would make would be to get rid of a lag when you step on the throttle. No lag with mine, so I've never even checked the reading. Did you check the reading because you have a lag ? Otherwise, there's no sense in it.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

i think the lag most 3.9 owners are complaining about is inherent from the "odd-fire" design of the v6. DC should have followed GM's lead and offset the rod journals to make it an "even-fire".

at least thats what i felt the first time i stepped on the gas when i bought my truck. and yes, i did the TPS mod.

I have a 1999 3.9 CC 4x2. I do feel a lag when I step on the throttle hard. Stepping on it gradually will make it go "evenly" if that makes sense.
