Subject: PCV noise/vibration IP: Logged
Message: I tuned up my '99 3.9 yesterday, new FR5 plugs, summit 8.0mm wires, brass cap and rotor and pcv valve. I noticed yesterday and again today that there's a noise on the passenger side like a swarm of bees that I haven't heard before. I isolated it to the pcv...the pcv and hose is vibrating. I pull out the pcv and there's a ton of vacuum. When I shook it and stuck it back the valve cover, it stopped but started again when I revved the engine via the throttle cable. I don't recall this noise from the old (original OEM) pcv which was pretty oily. Did I get a bad one or is something else going on? Or, is this just normal. I don't recall pcv noise in all the other cars I've owned so this is new to me.

Message: Where did you get the PCV valve at? after market valves are made to work with more applications and many wont work proper in Dakotas. Put a dealer PCV in it.

Message: I got it at Autozone. Can't remember the brand but it was the only brand they had.

Message: Got to the dealer today and picked up a new PCV valve. It cost about twice as much but works much better!
Thanks for the help!

Message: I have had a PCV valve separate into two pieces when I tried to remove it from the valve cover. Autozone generally carries crappy parts these days. I prefer NAPA and Advance Auto Parts for aftermarket.

Message: Some time ago now, I bought a $2.50 PCV at O'Reilley's and it sounded like I had a hornet's nest under the hood. Went to the stealership and bought one for about $6 or so and no more noise. Some things are just better purchased from the dealer.

Message: Hey Guy's, I never heard of a bad pvc before, but I guess we can learn something new everyday.
Other than being clogged up, never heard of the problems that KCWW was having.
Thanks for sharing the info.
Good Luck to everyone,
