Subject: No power to fuel pump IP: Logged
Message: 1993 3.9 V6 Dakota Sport. I had intermittant power to the fuel pump and now it (power) is gone.
The problem started out as rough idle and low
fuel pressure (about 20 psi), and then would correct itself to normal idle & normal specified pressure after about 30 seconds. This has progressively gotten worse to where I am now with no power to the fuel pump and no pressure.
I have replaced the Cap and Rotor yesterday, full
tune up about 20k ago.
Some help on direction of items I can check sure would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Glen

Message: Ummm - I just found out that the voltage only
runs for a second to the pump on run and then must be energized by cranking the starter.
The ASD is ok, thankyou!
Will update if indeed it is the fuel pump as
I am out the door to go get one.

Glen

Message: Good news - kinda - the cost was 175 bucks. The problem was the fuel pump and the Dakota rides again.
Thanks everyone for the input.

So it actually had power, didn't understand
how EFI pumps worked.
