Subject: strange noise @3000rpms IP: Logged
Message: i have a strange metalic noise over 3000 rpms and it bogs down,sounds like big end bearings. i think the intake gasket has gone because i see oil down inside the throttle body,but which probly makes it bog,but dont use any oil i dont rev it out much these days as i do mostly highway miles but somtimes you need the extra juice to make a safe pass,hope fully its not terminal iam trying to get a least 200,thou out of it before rebuild and i still got 3 payments left,any help much appreciated up till now very reliable

Message: i have this strange noise too on my 02. mine sounds more like a vac leak up near or around the firewall area but it's not a vac leak. sometimes i think maybe it's my tachometer cable or something.
as for the oil you can see through your throttle body, could be your plenum gasket. i have oil down inside of mine but it's not a lot. my truck don't use any oil even after 77,000 on it but not sure how oil got up inside the plenum. mine doesn't really bog down but seems sluggish and i've done the whole complete tune up thing.
