 Subject: V8 Throttle Body

I have a 92 3.9 V6 and have heard alot of people talking about a V8 throttle body up-grade.
1. what years of V8 throttle bodys' will work?
2. what modifications are needed for this swap?
3. what benifits are gained?
4. will my current sensors work? (can they be swaped over)
5. what suggestions or advise does anyone have?
6. what other mods compliment this?

1. You'll need a V8 TB up to a 1995 EGR type for your motor.
2. It'll bolt right on.( don't port& polish) you may need the V8 trottle cable if the ends are dirrent.
3. Larry says +10-15 hp in the upper rpms, bottom end rpm stays the same maybe even a slight lose.
4. All of your sensors will work.
5. I have a V8 tb on my '00 and I'm happy with it.
6. Cold air intake, IAT sensor relocated (freebe), CPS mod (freebe), Dynomax #17748 muffler w/ stock tailpipe.
That would be a good start. You should also look into a Fastman TB (thefastman.com, I think)or a F&B TB
If your TB is a 46mm bore, keep it and port & polish it, and save your money for other mods.
V8=good
Fastman=better
F&B=best

Great, but what is the IAT and CPS mods. Be specific. You said freebe??
How do I tell if the TB is 46mm bore any #'s any where?

Here is a link to a good write up Ive seen on this forum before for the cps mod. Give good detailed intructions and pics. I it was GB2000 who did the write up.

As for the IAT mod I believe it is just a matter of moving the sensor away from the intake so it reads cooler incoming air and tells the computer to send a little more fuel. Sorry wasnt able to find any pics.

Great info!!!! I remembered the CPS mod ater I typed that. The IAT relocate sounds real easy!!! I even learned how to index the Distributor, that a week ago would have saved me ALOT of headaches!!

I added the v8performance.com to my favorites and loaded it to the memory for use when I do the checks.

I am also selling a v8 throttle body I ran on my v6 for a few years until I sold the truck. I am also selling the v8 TB cable with it (you'll need it if upgrading a v6). On Ebay, $50 Buy it Now, OBO.

I purchased a V8 throttle body for my V6 but need a T.B. cable and the "pick ya parts" yard in my area has shut down, Anyone know where i and grab one from the dealer or a perfomance shop such as Fastman?

I picked mine up at the stealership, I think it was about 40-50 bucks though. I was just tired of looking for one. I definitely needed one on my 2000.
