ive had the check engine light on but no money to fix anything or get the computer hook up. but it runs great except for a slight header leak. so should i care or not?

jason01, if you can get to an Auto Zone they will scan the computer for free. I would want to find out what is wrong even if I couldn't afford to fix it. It could be something simple (most likely) I would still want to know for peace of mind. I have in the past gotten a code for the EGR system, and found all it was was a leaking vacuum hose. The car still ran fine, but had the Check Eng. light on.

you can ignore it if you want to but. if it is an '01 you can pull codes without a reader.turn the key on/off/on/off/on (on NOT start) and the odometer will display the codes. when it's finished it will display Pdone.
