Check out ACTRON.com most autoparts stores carry them and won't empty your wallet bad, depending what your looking for and to they are divison of SUNPRO which makes good aftermarket gauges, tachs and other great stuff. They have a basic which is pocket reads only codes and will clear codes about $45.00-80 depending where you live then prices go up I have 2 code readers one of them is and the other is couple of upgrades from the base which will give you freeze and live info on your sensors.Depending what you want to spend is what you get for the money.Be sure to get a Good MANUAL not CHILTON OR HAYNES Not saying are bad just not technical info for myself need more than what the code is and your basic electrical tests and checks, they are good refernce materials to give you a good starting point and other general repairs if thats what your after.

I have an Auto-x-ray, it was 225 bucks, and is up gradeable, but you can up grade on line. I like it cause it covers everything from 1983 to 2007. Including imports. It will show the code then what the code means, and what part is affected. One thing I have found though is if you get a code you can clear it and it may not come back. Last winter I got a code for my Cat on my Chrysler, I just cleared the code and hasn't come back. My Chrysler runs great too, 30 MPG (2.7 V6)
It is a bit pricey, but I think it is worth it, just my opinion.
