Great site and lots of helpful info.
From what I've read on other threads, I think I need to replace these due to my '99 V6 not shifting into 2nd (when cold) until high rpm's. Seems like it should shift in 1/2 or 1/3 the time that it does. Does this sound right?
Will I do harm to wait a little while longer (month or two) to change them out?
Too bad I just changed the fluid and filter a couple of months ago!

I have to change those also, I have waited almost a year. It shifts but not until about 3.5 rpms. I think it's a little annoying but will probably not hurt if you wait a month or two. I have waited because I just don't want to change the fluid again. It's a messy job. You should have a code for that if that's the problem. It is P1762.
