to start bought a 99 dak 3.9 auto slt 4x4 for my son a week ago 60k on it brought it home and of course ball joints were shot ordered the kit off ebay for it around 100 bucks delievered after readin up on here(great forum by the way)went to harbor frieght this week and bought a ball joint press(best 30 bucks ever spent)to make a long story short done the work today all 4 ball joints and all 4 tie rods kit was great came with everything but good enough bolts for the top ball joints(went to hardwhare store and bought good ones)everything went great would advise anyone doin it to buy a press or rent one and an air chisel takes the factory rivets on top right off in 2 mins so if anyones lookin for a good kit ebays is good all greasable too which shocked me
ps new to this board but have read alot of great advise next will be doin exhaust work on it next weekend not sure yet what ill use done want it to sound like a ricer

searay245se, thanks for the tip on the ball joints.
I remaned mine a few years ago and I use a Thrush Turbo style muffler, I like the way it sounds, kind of low mellow tone. If I stand beside the exhaust tip and someone rev's it up I really like the way it sounds. I found that Advance Auto parts have a board of recordings and you can listen to a bunch of different mufflers, they are mostly V8's though.

thanks for the welcome and the info dakota49 was listening to a few one youtube and my son wants me to put on a cherry bomb style i have used them alot in the past on big v8 cars and not sure i like the sound of it on a v6 i also have used the thrush turbos too but on v8 also i myself am leaning toward the turbo thanks again for the welcome and hope to be around awhile with this truck and maybe help others along with there problems if i can

searay245se, when it comes to mufflers there is a bunch out there to chose from. like I said I like mine, and Cherry Bomb is making a lot of different types of mufflers now as well, not just glass packs. I picked mine because it was cheap, and I was surprised that it sounds so good. Well to me it sounds good.
Let us know what you decide, and how you like the way it sounds. Or not like the way it sounds.
I have just over 16000 miles on mine since I rebuilt it and it did get a little louder, but not much, and I still like it.

thanks again dakota49 talked my son into the turbo instead of the cherry bomb(was mostly the wife sayin she dont want anymore loud cars we already have enough)so next week end will be tearin it down and doin the exhaust will let ya know one way or the other like dislike when its done

searay245se, good luck with the Muffler change. The stock one is pretty long but since I was changing the exhaust from the cat back I had a shop step up my pipe to 2 1/2 through the muffler and tail pipe. I like the way it sounds, and am happy with it.

the stock pipes should be 2-1/2". i bought a cheap Cherry Bomb turbo for my '00 3.9. got the short one 18" i think. just stopped at A/Z and picked up a 2ft piece of 2.5" exhaust and a couple of clamps. was done in about 20 minutes.

Daddio, I'll bet your Cherry Bomb was a little cheaper than my thrush turbo was. How does it sound?
I had seen an advertisement for Cherry Bomb and they do have a pretty big selection of mufflers now than they did about 25 years ago.
