Message: caught your first post. you mentioned you fixed the splice. no fuel and no fire. look under the hood for the ASD relay. try swapping it out for another relay, like the one for the a/c and try that.

Message: Thanks Daddio, where is the ASD relay? I am learning. Does the code thing they sell at harbour freight tools work for these trucks. I wiil buy the Haynes Manual and that if it will help me do it myself. I plan to pass this truck down to my son as my dad gave it to me. The old cars wouldn't think of doing 160'000 with no down time.

Message: not sure on a '92 but the ASD relay should be in the underhood fuse box. the lid of the box should tell you which one it is.
the Haynes manual is a good idea.

Message: Did you check if you had power at that relay. I found that the fuse able links like to go bad. Just had the same problem.

Message: Hey Jeremy,Do you mean the wire splices, plugs where wires are joined or something else. I'checked all the spliced wires by the relay box on drivers side. I've checked all the connections to grounds and accessories. The ASD and Fuel pump relays are good. I got the crankshaft Position Sensor, camshaft position sensor and dist.cap rotar and plug wires today. The crankshaft position sensor is impossible to get to. I took out the fender liner and jacked it way up and you can barely see it from below and maybe a little more from top. I may have to take the engine apart to change it. 1992 3.9 turbo. Let me know what the fusable links are and where they are. Ilove my old truck shes just bein a little stubborn right now HA! Thanks

Message: Ive got a 92 3.9 4wd cycle the key three times leave it on the 4th. dont start it the engine light will flash the codes. one flash= 1 2 flashes =2 etc... count the flashes the last code will be 55 (end of codes)
The crank sensor is a PIA to get to. Need a contortionist to get to it.
Let us know if it is fixed..
Trev1 (truck finally running right after 3 weeks)

Message: TobyWd40, the fusible links can be just about any place, but when you get a manual it will describe what they are and where to find them, they are kind of like an in line fuse, with the fuse built in. When one burns out you need to cut on both sides and strip the wire back a little and put the new piece in place. Its usually recomended that you solder and then use heat shrink tape to protect the connection.
Good Luck

Message: i don't understand why you guys say the CPS is hard to get to. on my '00 3.9 5spd, i just slid under the truck, reached up to the top of the bellhousing and unscrewed the bolts. then crawl over the engine to disconnect the connection. took me 15-20 minutes.

Message: Daddio my Cajun bud the 92 must be different we jacked it up took off tire and fender well stuff with plastic clips and from the bottom you can barely see it lil on reach it. We left the tire off and let it down so brake rotors were almost on the ground we jacked it down instead of up. Then we could barely get our hands to it but figured out that the allan screws are the same size as hex head screwdriver bits and an allan wrench will fit the screwdriver bits if you put it where the bit normally goes so if you use the bit holder that goes into a drill backwards you can put two or three bit holders together and stick the allan wrench in it and it makes an extension long enough you can easily get to allan screws from the top and pop em out pull the wire up plug in the new one and screw it back in in about 10 minutes and your truck won't start HA!

Message: Hey guys I almost feel like I belong here now I saved my first big dealership bill. Trev I'm glad yours is right. We changed the Crankshaft position sensor and pulled the distributor cap and the rotor was almost burnt up and the contact in the middle of the cap was wore to nothing. I think it may be the stock cap from the factory, it said made in USA in it. 160,000 miles, pretty good huh. We changed the Camshaft position sensor after cleaning everything up in there and put new rotor and cap on it, made in mexico, it got dark so change the wires tomorrow. Taking off the tire and jacking it down makes it lot easier to reach everything, without having to crawl around on the motor. Goodnight all. Thanks to Daddio, Trev and Dakota 49, Jeremy and J&J auto, fills like the oscars or something. Get some more money and I'll be a Life Member.

Message: Mine is an 88 I don't have a cps. I like the idea of having more stuff to go wrong, cause when its right, it runs better, gets better fuel mileage, and more power.
