Message: Have a 2004 base model dak 5spd, overall really like my truck. Being manual and base w/t model has good pickup no gov. just rev limiter at 6500rpm, but anyway. Was looking for some suggestions or advice on ways to get more horsepower. Goal to hopefully get around 300hp.

Message: KRCperformance.com they know more about these motors then most people. They could possibly get you in that goal. It may not be cheap, but it should be reachable.

Message: 300hp is a 43% increase. i don't think you'll get there with any kit. you're probably looking at something very expensive and you'll have to do it yourself.

Message: To the flywheel that is very reachable. With a good set of cleaned up heads, bigger cams, supercharger and a custom tuning, I could see it hitting 300.

Message: shoe, my point is, NOT in kit form. you'll have to do it yourself. like a stand alone system like F.A.S.T., turbo, custom piping, etc..... by the time you're done with that, you'll have more money in mods than the trucks worth. but, some people like it like that.
also, will that stock tranny hold up under that? i doubt it.

Message: If he has the NV3500 then it should hold up for awhile. I always tell people that it is better to either do it yourself or have it done for you then to buy something with it already done to it. That way you know who did it and what kind of job was done. I like the adventure of making something my own custom. Who in the hell needs kits?
