Not really alot of help but just looking for some imput. I have a gen 1v6, (87) and the motors got well over 300,000 on it and its still running but its got some bearing in the bottom end that clunks away haha just at idle though.
I can get my hands on a gen 2 (92)v6 for dirt cheap in really good shape not alot of miles. My question is can my intake manafold drop right on top of it? and Just about all the other parts. I know some of the sensors would have to be changed. Basically id use just the block and put all the good parts off my motor onto it. if thats possible.
Just wondering if its possible if it isnt ill just get a gen 1 motor. I dont feel like dealing with it if its going to be a problem.

87dakota4X4,what you would have to do is change the heads, the old intake won't bolt up to the newer heads. If you have the heads rebuilt you could use the old heads with the newer engine, oh yeah,I think you would have to use the old push rods, and rockers as well. The newer engine uses different rockers. If you do all that you wouldn't have to change the sensors, or add any either.

yea i found out the kid wants a little more for the motor than i expected, so im def gonna just pass it up. Ill be better off just getting the correct year then i wont run into any problems. Thanks for the info though, it wouldnt of been fun jumping into a project like that not tknowing what i was getting into.
