Subject: mpg increase air element or CAI IP: Logged
Message: which one will i see more of an effect on MOG for the better. I am preparing to start moding up my truck so this is where I have read I need to start(intake). I hate to say it but I am after MPG first and power second. I know it sounds stupid and crazy but I am only getting 14 mpg city and have had tunups and alignment and ignition upgrade and nothing has helped. so which one should i get CAI or a edlebrock air cleaner (10 in) with a K&N element

Message: I have a question about the round element, what do you do with the hose from the valve cover to the air hat?

Message: if you look on side of your intake manifold you will see a black vacuum cover cap, remove that and plug it in there.

Message: MPG for either a round open element or a CAI, well lets see here i have had both on my truck and right now i have the round open element on mine, I like the sound that i get off the engine from it and i think it looks more bad a$$ when you pop the hood.
I drought you will see and MAJOR or MINOR increases from doing either. CAI though should give you a better MPG though if we take a look a physics, if you dont have a cowl hood or a ram air hood of that type.
I say dont worry about this, if you ever plan on doing a SC setup or turbo set up on your dakota then put in a CAI it will be cheaper in the long run. Yet if you want a NA engine, then a open element in my option is bad a$$.
