Subject: Truck dying after starts IP: Logged
Message:
My Dodge Dakota '96,AT,2.9l suddenly dies after it starts. If I keep my foot on the accelerator the truck will stay on ,but as soon as I am not giving it gas, it dies again.
Could it be the gas pump or bad fuel filter, electrical or something else. I know I had the complete tune-up(new spark plugs, new fuel filter, fuel injectors cleaned, wires, etc.) done about a year ago
I has been running fine until I was ready to go out and discovered this problem
Any suggestions as to what may be the problem?

Message: After driving my truck for a little while,I realized that the truck did not stop once I removed my foot from the accelerator.
It is not idling just when I start the truck the first time. I did put gas on my truck just before all this began to happen. The gas station I used is an old,not reputable station.Plus, the gas was pumping really, really slow and when that happen the gas on the station is very low, thus, pumping more dirt and junk into a vehicle's gas tank.
I still wondering if you have any ideas as to what is causing the problem.
Thanks

Message: a weak battery will cause those exact problems. it can still start the truck but if voltage gets low enough the pcm loses it idle memory. have the battery load tested. Autozone will do it for free. you should also clean the TB & IAC along with all battery connections.

Message: Just delt with that same problem today. Replaced my battery and all is well. Mine was so bad that I had to jump start my truck and even then it would just die if I didnt rev it. AT least a duralast battery from Autozone is only $60.
