Subject: Transmission shifting late IP: Logged
Message: Hi,
I have a 3.9 V6 2001 105,000. My transmission seems to shift the majority of the time out of first around 3 to 3.5 RPMs and when I floor it after taking off in first it will sometimes shift at 4.5 to 5. It seems to just shift slow on the first gear. It shifts through all of the other gears at the proper time and there is nothing wrong with the tranny from that point on. I have a code 1762. Govenor pressure sensor. Is this related to my problem?
Thanks for any suggestions!

Message: Yes it is
You need to replace the pressure sensor and sol
around $200 from dealer only
You have to drop the pan to replace these so at
the same time do a fluid and filter change
good fluid only
ATF +4
Amsoil synthetic
Redline synthetic
no dextron or super tech from walmart
You will need 6 Qts put 4 in start brake on put
into drive than rev than park check
just get it into the safe zone than take it for
a nice ride like 5 miles than check when hot
anywhere in the safe is good
never over fill an automatic transmission it
causes foaming and heat, Not Good

Message: Larry or anyone else
Is the Governor pressure sensor and solenid easy to replace inside transmission or does it require alot of work? I don't want to get all fluid out and discover that I need to take apart half the tranny while staring up at it with fluid dripping on me at the same time!
Thanks

Message: Rich, when you take the pan off there should be 4 parts on the bottom of the trans, if you get your parts before hand just match them with what you see and change them out.
Good Luck

Message: Any time you drop a trans pan plan on getting
dirty
just drop the pan and replace them no big deal
get a filter kit comes with new gaskit
Autozone has the big plastic drain pans cheap like
under $5
And have lots of rags handy LOL
