Message: A couple months ago my check engine light started coming on on my 2002 dakota sxt v-6. I bought it new from the dealership, so I know it has no previous mechanical problems. Problem is, I'm getting codes for the EVAP emission system leak. Before anyone says anything, gas cap has been on tight, even put on a new gas cap with no luck. Usually lasts between 50-200 miles after resetting the code before it cmes back. Any suggestions on what the problem might be?

Message: about 3 months back i was under my truck (2002 3.9) and noticed one of the lines to my fuel canister was off. I never got any codes for it though. you might want to crawl around underneath and just look around.

Message: There's a lot on this board about this topic, if you search for it. The P0441 code is usually a split hose somewhere - finding it can be a challenge, though. Start tracing lines and look for splits at the connection points. The test port - right over the manifold on the drivers side - was my worst one (mine is also an '02 SLT). Finally rerouted that one to the firewall and around to the evap solenoid and haven't had a problem with it since. Had one at the canister, too - underneath, drivers side, seems like it was a little behind the door. I've replaced that 1/4" stuff with 5/16" fuel line hose as I've replaced it.
