MO26 and MO28 cap and rotor solid brass incerts
Echlin brand
around $15
Wires
the stock 7mm wires on these trucks are nasty
like 300 ohm per foot resistance
Personaly I like the MSD 8.5mm 50 ohm per foot
resistance a lot more power getting to the
plugs
summitracing.com
order same year 5.2 dakota you have 2 wires
left over and a perfict fit no mesing around
putting ends on
Around $80
Plugs
I recomend the halo but they are expensive at
$8.99 each
The next best plug is the NGK Vpower and almost
every truck runs better with 1 colder heat range
the FR5 is what you want
The trucks that did not run well with the colder
plug in time were found to have other issues that
showed up once corrected they ran well also
NGK FR5 Vpowwr plugs
around $2.25 each
at least get the ngk you will be very pleased
you did
Gap
92 to 95 obd1 .035
96 and up obd2 .040
If you have just a hotter coil and good wires
this can be opened .005
with a MSD system gap the Vpower to .055
Do all these things for your tuneup and you
will be amazed the diff this will make
Be sure all your sensors are good especialy the
o2 look at your plugs when you remove them
should be just a light tan color
We just put a set of msd wires and an 8203
round oil coil msd 45,000 volt the marine
msd box did not arive yet just the coil and
wires the boat gained 1mph
We are also putting a set of comp cams 1.7
pedistal rockers on this 351 ford with an
offenhauser dual port 360 the boat should
do 55 60mph
But gaining 1mph from coil and wires tells me
the stock ignition was a little weak from a
performance stand point
