I took my truck to our local drag strip for the first time today... I've wanted to ever since I got the truck 5 years ago... I'm not going to lie... I was pretty disappointed in my truck tonight... Now granted, it has 121k miles on it, so it's not a spring chicken or anything, but I'm still upset...

It has a MAC cold air intake, 180 therm, hotter wires and plugs, high flow cat and low restriction exhaust... and an Auborn Racing limited slip in the rear end as far as performance wise... btw, New clutch 5k miles ago... tranny 60k ago... nothing except timing chain has changed on the engine...

It's a 98 R/C short bed with leather tonnue cover... 2004 rims with oversized tires 3.9 and of course... it's a manual... The times go as thus

btw... first time ever running anything at a drag strip... so no laughing at my terrible reaction times...

1st run... RT: .353
1/4: 16.895
mph: 81.37

2nd run... RT: .562
1/4: 16.872
mph: 81.84

3rd run... RT: .298
1/4: 16.868
mph: 81.54

now I know the track is known to be a little slow... but still... When I first got my truck they were supposed to run 16.8's... now with over 2k in extras... it's still running 16.8's... Frustrating... Good shifts... first 2 runs had burnouts in box... the 3rd was without a burnout... 2nd run was the only one were I ate the tires a little more than I wanted to out of the box... The engine felt strong before I went to the track, then at the track it turned into a pooch... anyway... just thought I'd throw out those times... lemme know some other peoples times and what you have invested into your truck... and (ONLY) people who have actually run... I don't want numbers from factory as to what they run... cause according to them... my truck gets 21 city and 26 highway... I've gotten 22 on the highway before... "once" with as low as 13.9 in city...

What kind of tires were u on? 60foot times are everything in drag racing. What were yours? I have a 93 rc 3.9 5 speed. I ran 9.78 in a 1/8th at alomost MPH. Bone stock. That was on ET streets and a 5000rpm launch, power shifting at 4800 rpms. my 60 foot was 1.97

well to answer you question I have Pirelli Scorpion 245's (The same tire only smaller that is on the SRT-10 Ram) as well as Porsches... on it...
My 60 ft on
run 1: 2.438
run 2: 2.551
run 3: 2.438
I can shift over 4800 cause My intake keeps my truck breathing over 5k rpms... but the other thing is the generation II Dakotas are lighter than the III's so that prolly helped you too! But I shift around 5200 rpms anyways...

My first run was a 1800 rpm launch
My second was a 2200 rpm launch... (Hence the slower time... Too much spinning from the tires...)
and my third was at 1900 rpms...

Oh and believe me... I was power shifting... I've been driving this truck for the last 6 years... with plenty of crazy driving so I know how to shift this puppy...

By the way though Robert... Where do you live? Or in otherwards... how high above Sea Level are you? I'm in the Cincinnati area... Course I'm sure you know that altitude can very easily play a role in the quarter mile as well...

I live in Elizabethtown ky....about 150 miles from cinn. I raced the truck at ohio valley which is only a 1/8th and it is in louisville ky. Also depending on how oversized your tires are that will hurt your low end by rasing your gear ratio....which was probably 3.55 from factory.
