We installed the hughes engines cam last week

HER9204AL-V6

192/204 .490/.502

1998 4x4

with there recomended springs and retainers

rated at off idle to 4500rpm

This cam is an excellent choice a very noticeable
increase in low end torque great for pulling
trailers

dyno showed 23hp and 35 torque at 2000rpm over
the stock cam just were you need it high way
crusing speeds and pulls strong right to redline
peak 25 and 40 torque

A customer brought the cam springs retainers and
new valve seal asked if we could install the cam

we installed it without pulling the heads the only
other thing we did was gasket match the intake
flange

The stock computer ran this cam excellent

Great for 4x4's trailer towing

I like the resaults so much I am going to drop 1
in my 95 4x4 probably in aug when I have time

Oh he did have a 46mm fastman on the truck and
the ngk v power FR5's dynomax 11748 single 2.5
tail K&N cold air crank sensor mod and IAT relocat
thats it

Gas mileage gain 2.5mpg city and high way

Hey larry, what would you recomend for a turbo setup (cam specs)? I know on a ford you want a high lobe seperation and a 112+centerline.

Larry,

You have been an inspiration to manny on this board to mod their trucks. This camshaft installation would be a great how to project. It's good to know it works well with the stock computer. Just food for thought if should decide to install the camshaft in your truck. Thanks.

92 and 97 Daks both with many mods.

yes the hughes cams will run in the 88 and up
V6

there will be slightly less lift and duration
because the pre mag roller engines have a 1.5
rocker ratio over the mags 1.6 ratio

Now I am not sure about doing the cam in my 4x4
I have a guy who is going to trade me a 94 318
for a 400 B Block I have in my garage on a stand
so I may go 318 not sure yet

For blown turbo you want a bigger seporation
less over lap 114 115 the 360 we used a
272/274 .472/.484 119 centerline

this alows for more cylinder presures to build
overlap is when both valves are open at the same
time you want less overlap

with that cam you suggested Larry that you used in the 360, would it be possible to run that cam before the turbo was installed?!

Hughes doesn't show a cam for the 3.9. Will the cams for the 5.2 or 5.9 work for it. And what cam and other equip would you adivise me to use?

Ok so I am looking at the cam and reading that it requires the different springs but I have hydralic lifts in my truck so I guess the question is is there a change I need to make or can I put the cam in without changing anything but the cam?
2000 Dakota 3.9 V6 Magnum maybe someone can help me.
