 Subject: Help identifying 92 tranny model

I have a 1992 that is having tranny difficulties. Unfortunately the tranny ID tag has been removed, and I don't know how to identify what tranny I have. I intend to replace it with a wrecking yard model, and have been told one from a 4 cyl is likely to be in better shape, but also to watch out because I could have one of two tranny's. Can anyone help me identify what I do have? I have a 4x2 model.

call any dealer with your vin number they can
pull up a build sheet from DCC and tell you
exactly what you have
you did not even mention if its stick or auto trans

I have called the dealer, whom initially told me P35 (It is a 5 speed I overlooked that part). But the tranny dealers have given me options of either NP535 or NV3500. When I called the dealer a second time trying to find a clear answer and hoping they would be able to back track from a part serial number they next told me AX15. At that point having been given 4 different model numbers I thought this board might be able to help.
