Message: If you had a cowl hood the air cleaner on top would be better, it would draw colder forced air n of the windshield, but without that you would be better off with a cold air.

Message: This is what ive always learned, THINK AHEAD! plan on what your next mods would be, if the cold air intake would better fit your next mods then do that, but if you are never gonna force inject it or whatever then i prefer a top mount cleaner.

Message: I have the K&N set up that sits on the throttle body, they don't make a cold air intake for the 95. You have to fabricate one or adjust the KNN-57-1509-1. I think it's questionable how much colder the air will be with the cold air intake since it is basically locating the air intake closer to the front of the truck where you removed that plastic piece for better air flow. The cold air really doesn't come in until you get up to 40mph or more, some say faster than that. I figure at that speed I get pretty good air flow with what I've got plus more circumference of air filter thus more volumn of air flow. I'd say the difference is minimal unless you get a functioning hood vent like Larry has or a cowl hood. For the $260 for the cold air intake system you're better off with spending the money on other mods.

Message: with my scoop I have the IAT in the bottom of the
14x3 K&N with the K&N exstream top around 30 35
mph you can watch the IAT temp drop
Around 50 55mph you can really feel the diff
between the reg top and the exstream top I run the
reg top in the winter
I also have the stock IAT location for those 30
below zero days I can switch to either with a
switch in the cab
The stock setup on the g2 trucks is actualy not
bad remove the flap by the tube intake and use
a K&N drop in filter
Here is another excellent setup we have used the
360 arz intake has 2 intake tube hookups 1 from
the stock tube and one run under the batt box
with a hole cut in the rad saddle for the second
both getting ramed from front of truck
I would also plan on a bigger throttle body
V8 good bolt on as is low end the same with mid
and top end gains around 15hp
The fastman 46mm and F&B 48mm offer gains from
off idle to redline peak 18hp and 25 torque at
the wheels
The other big bottle neck is in the intake at the
gasket flange anyone serious about performance
should gasket match these ports its bad
on the 4x4's we have been getting excellent
resaults with the fastman and F&B and the gasket
match good off idle low end torque
remove the devider but leave the runners stock
length and gasket match
The stock intake is designed to give a burst
around 1000 rpm to 3000rpm at 16"
At 14" this will change to 2000 to 4000rpm this
is good for a 2 wheel street truck
Bigger TB
gasket match
harland 1.7 rocker arms
devider removed
This will give you excellent low end off idle
performance perfict for a 4x4
2 wheel street
besides the above shorten the runners to 14"
this will give you 10 to 15hp starting around
2500 to 3000rpm to redline and 15 to 20 torque
just what you want on the street
once the intake is done headers and a low
restriction muffler will give you another easy
15hp coming in around 1800rpm and up
also doing these mods will increase gas mileage
I just got 23.87mpg combined city highway 89 oct
fuel jet 2 chip
