Message: Help: I have a 1993 Dakota with 182,000 miles. It was running just fine until a few days ago. I noticed when i shifted into third gear that the engine would cut out and sputter. On Saturday it got so bad that I had to keep it be;low 2000 rpms to keep it running. It has no power. When you step on the gas it just acts like there is no fuel. I changed the fuel filter and air cleaner and it made no difference. Local repair shop said its probably the fuel pump. How do I check it and see if it is. Can the fuel pump do this or do they just quit all together. Thanks Don. PS It will idle and start. Just wont take fuel.

Message: The same happen to me, check the o2 sensor, If you need to see if the pump is working check the pressure inline. location is rear right just under the air cleaner, remove the black plastic valve cover.
