Subject: weird noise at startup IP: Logged
Message: I've noticed that when i go to start my engine cold, or when
running at low RPM in first gear, it starts up fine but runs for a
couple minutes making a loud noise as if the engine were running
at very high RPM. This usually goes away (or becomes unnoticeable)
when i'm moving and about the time i hit second gear. Normally it
runs smooth as silk despite 186000 miles. This is only at startup.
Any help???

Message: Is it the Engines mechanical fan. They take a second or two too warm up and start freewheeling with the engine. That would almost sound like the engine reving way up

Message: Those clutch fans sure like to roar......Mine will do it at a cold startup even in 70 degree weather. Step her down good and it will kick it off within a block...
