Subject: weird noise at startup
IP: Logged

Message:
I've noticed that when i go to start my engine cold, or when
running at low RPM in first gear, it starts up fine but runs for a
couple minutes making a loud noise as if the engine were running
at very high RPM. This usually goes away (or becomes unnoticeable)
when i'm moving and about the time i hit second gear. Normally it
runs smooth as silk despite 186000 miles. This is only at startup.
Any help???

Is it the Engines mechanical fan. They take a second or two too warm up and start freewheeling with the engine. That would almost sound like the engine reving way up

Those clutch fans sure like to roar......Mine will do it at a cold startup even in 70 degree weather. Step her down good and it will kick it off within a block...
