Okay:

I bought a used '01 Dakota Sport 3.9L Automatic Club Cab a couple of weeks ago. It has 26k miles, and was bone stock when I bought it. After driving it, I realized that I wanted to do more with it as I have done with every other car I have owned. Here is the list of things I have done so far:

1. MagnaFlow muffler installed on factory 2.5" exhaust.
2. Cold Air intake system -- removal of factory airbox, 3" exhaust piping bent to fit engine bay, high-heat painted with K&N closed-end 3" cone filter.
3. IAT sensor relocation from intake runner to intake piping (perfect fit and finish thanks to excellent directions found on SpeedTweaks site!).

Future plans include:

1. Removal of black plastic factory air-splitters located in front grille and replacement with metal mesh.
2. Removal of rubber protector over A/C lines by radiator assembly to maximize fresh air flow into engine bay on air filter side. (to be done after mesh to avoid debris bursting A/C lines)
3. Safari Bar with lights for front end protection and additional illumination.
4. Flometrics 48mm throttle body swap being considered.

I would really like to improve fuel mileage (avg. 17.5 mpg city/highway last 2 tanks), with performance being a "side effect". After all, with more power under the hood, the engine has to do less work to maintain the same driving habits. Any input would be helpful as long as you don't suggest a V8 swap.

If anyone wants pics of the mods I've done or help with doing them, just toss a message up and I'll get in touch.

Thanks in advance,

Mike T.

dont get the safari bar, drop it, get the throttle body, then buy some 1.7 roller rockers, FMS injectors, powertrax rear, MSD ignition (wires, coil) Autolite 3923 plugs, and to top it off get at least a 50 shot of nitrous. theres a start

FMS Injectors won't work on 2000+ :0(

I bought some for my 2000 V6, they fit, but the electrical connection is different. Sucks to be us.

Nope -- no nitrous. It's not that I wouldn't enjoy it because I probably would (too much!) but this truck also has to be driven by my wife on occasion. I've got my eye on a few things but they will have to come in time. I am interested in injectors once the other mods are complete, but I have yet to find some aprox. 19#'s for the 2001 models. (I think that 19# is the suggested upgrade, feel free to correct me on that)

well i would hope everyone knows that a s/c will give you an enormous amount of power for $3000 or more (key words 3grand or more)i was just tryin to be reasonable by sayin nitrous cause its about 1/4 of the price prolly cheaper

heehee... Yep. Those blowers can get a bit expensive. I think I'm going to stay NA for the time being, until I win or inherit a buncha-munny. I like the mods I can do for a few hundred at best -- although that rear disc conversion looks pretty awesome :p
