Message: i've got to say, i just put the NGK fr5's in 2 days ago and also did the crank sensor mod. i'm very happy with the way it runs! top end kind of died out but i've gained a whole lot more low end torque and hardly have to get on it at all to accelerate. so far the MPG has improved and can pull more in 5th gear than i could before which is even better for MPG! the NGK's blow those autolites away!

Message: Post mpg numbers when you get a few tankfuls, so we can see objective data. Thanks.

Message: I tried the Bosch plus 2's and they did great for about 500 miles then went south. So I took the plunge and bought the Halo's, gained 2 miles per gallon, smoother running stronger pulling faster starts, (wasn't hard to start to begin with though) I was getting 18-19 miles per gallon, now 20-21.
Good luck,

Why would your top end drop tells me there is
something off there
o2 sensor or low fuel pressure
The NGK Vpower plugs will improve idle to redline
the same with the crank sensor mod
On your 02 gap at .040
perhaps you have some weak wires there
MSD 8.5
taylor 8mm
Either of these wires with a napa mo26 &mo28 cap
and rotor solid brass incerts will get more volts
to the plugs and improve the performance of the
NGK V power plug even more
If you decide to put a MSD box and coil on gap
.055
MSD 6a box
MSD 8207 coils
this set up works very well

Message: maybe i mistated that. i've got top end but it takes a little while to get there. it seemed i could reach higher rpm's faster with the champs in there, maybe because the champs are hotter plug, don't know. I have JBA wires on about 3 years maybe 4 years old and about 50-60,000 miles on them. checked in complete darkness and no arc anywhere. the NGK's are gapped at .040 they run much smoother but just don't seem to get the truck up to speed as fast but i'm not looking for speed as much as MPG. Yes, probly right about something else being the issue as i'm running all factory o2's still at 73k. just don't have the $$$ to get new ones, i need 4 of them!

Message: I put new wires on today. got borg OEM wires. can't afford performance wires right now. the wires did help so maybe the JBA's were a bit worn. I took the elbow off the airbox too. i've tried this a couple times but put it back in during the winter months for better MPG. I've always been concerned about water coming in when driving in the rain with that front flap removed. I do have a K&N in there and have been told the oil in the filter will displace any water. is this true?
