Subject: plug wires IP: Logged
Message: I put a set of JBA wires on about 3-4 years ago. i've put about 60,000 miles on them now. How long would you say a set of wires should last? I did a tune up about a month back and did new brass cap and rotor and new plugs but left the wires go. Physically they look ok but i am starting to wonder about them. When it's damp out the truck doesn't seem quite right.

Message: usually when it's damp it indicates a crack in the dist cap, u may wanna try a cap and rotor pref a cap with brass connectors

Message: wait until it's dark out then start the truck, open the hood and look for spark leakage from the wires.

Message: i have a new cap and rotor, only about a month old. new plugs too but i'm putting NGK's in over the weekend. also, did notice once before some spark leakage in the wires but it was touching part of the casing to the alternator and also seemed at some spots where the wires crossed eachother. Since then i have re-routed the coil wire and also put wire loom around it and have made particularly sure as best i can that no wires cross eachother. Haven't seen any leakage since but will check again. Should a high grade wire even do this?
