Subject: thorow out bearing problem? IP: Logged
Message:
as i am taking off in first gear ill have a bit of a grinding sound with a little shaking. when i shift to second and third it seems like im shifting with out my clutch. as i come to a stop i have to down shift through all gears and if my timing is off at all my transmission seems to lock and i need to shut my truck off pop into gear and then go. also when driving for extended times, especially on highways, if i stop for some reason or another my transmission will grind if i try to go into reverse and wont let me into any other gear unless i let it sit for about an hour. any thoughts could help. i assuming throw out bearing, possibly the pilot bearing or slave cylinder.
feel free to ask for further explanation or if i wasnt clear. i need a fix that i wont be cashing out on. i have a 99 dakota slt v6 5speed

Message: if the clutch is fully disengaging, it sounds like the synchros in the tranny are gone. that would mean time for a rebuild or used form the salvage yard.

Message: Daddio most likely called it right. I'll ad a cracked finger plate on the pressure plate causing dragging problems so the clutch will not totally release. Would aso explain some vibrating.
