Message: I've got a Edelbrock round air cleaner (with a K&N filter in it)...I'd say he's meaning less power than a CAI. You're still letting in a crapload more air than stock. You'll like the Edelbrock filter too...makes the truck look like its got balls and sounds awesome when you punch it. The IAC hiss on cold days is annoying at first, but you'll get used to it...and it only lasts for a few minutes til your engine has warmed up.
Here's a helpful site...
http://www.dakota-truck.net/UPGRADES/FABM/fabmdml.html
Only thing is, somebody on here pointed this out and after I did it myself, I think he's right. The part number for the K&N filter (E-1070) when using the Edelbrock 10" air cleaner (p/n 1208) is actually not the best size to use. I can't remember the part number of the one he recommended, but the one the website suggests has a 10" outside diameter which means you have to really squeeze that filter into the air cleaner element. He recommended just a slightly smaller diameter which fit MUCH better in there. Just something for you to look into. It's something like 9.8" in diameter and 2" high.

Message: 14" won't fit on a V6 I don't think...go with the 10". Follow that website, you'll need to do the S-bolt "mod"...it's simple...and only costs a few bucks for the threaded rod to do it.
Here's the info on that:
http://www.blackshireserver.net/OhioDakotas/pdf/Speedtweaks%20Tips%20And%20Tricks.pdf
Scroll down to "What is a "S-bolt" and how do I make one?"...it's around page 22 of 45. Make sure when you make it, you don't use the picture as a pattern as the actual measurements are WAAAAY off. What I found best was to draw a picture that fits the exact measurements and then I used it as a pattern and just bent my rod to fit it perfectly. You'll need a protractor to get the angle right...might wanna pick one up at your local Walmart while on a parts run. lol
