ok, got this stupid squeak now after i let my foot off the brake pedal. it's coming from the back brakes only after letting off the pedal. i adjusted the rear brakes today cause i thought maybe they were hanging up and maybe they're not tight enough now. I adjusted the adjuster just enough till the shoes rubbed the drum then put the drums back on.i backed up pretty many times while applying brake to self adjust them. i've got good pedal now but this darn squeak now!! how can i get rid of this?
Also i noticed in my back wheels when truck was off the ground that i've got play in my rear axle. it's just a little bit but it's still there. Picture if you're about to take the tire off and you're pulling towards you then pushing it back on. the play comes from pushing and pulling in and out. i can't even see the amount of play with my eye alone but i feel it. is this normal?

Message: Not sure about the play in the rear axle, but I have had the squeak noise from the rear brakes when I let off the pedal. Having the rear brakes cleaned & adjusted gets rid of it for a while, but it eventually will come back. I called a good Dodge dealer here and they said they see it sometimes and the noise is from rust accumulating inside the drums. The fix they said is to remove the drums and clean it really well inside with brake cleaner. I imagine emery cloth or an abrasive pad would help clean the rust as well.
I had a complete brake job done on my truck not long ago, and it has squeaked a time or two since then, but so far the cleaning the rear brakes has stopped it.
Hope this helps.
Jimmy
