Message: I - like many others here - use it, and will be putting it in the tranny later this week. That being said, there are gracious plenty of posts on here about Amsoil - both from people who use it and like it, and from those who simply want to puke over it.
The Amsoil guy is a paying member, and while I sometimes think he goes a little overboard with his long-winded posts, it's usually pertinent, and the fact remains that he's STILL paid his dues, is a sponsor of this board, and has a right.
Let's not respond to the puking flamers, or flaming pukers - maybe they'll go find the little boys board that is right for them.

You get a lot of flaming on this site when you mention Amsoil. Might I say for NO REASON. Steve the Amsoil dude on this site is very helpful, though I agree sometimes long winded.
Here is his Amsoil forum on a Dakota site without the flaming:

Message: some are not flames at all
but simply state problems they have had using amsoil
but you guys try and make everyone believe its a flame
i personally used amsoil for a few years
and had major problems
i will never use one of their products again
and would not advise anyone else to use them either
here is what i went through
i had a warranty problem using amsoil
the engine suffered lifter failure
and the dealer would not honor it under warranty
because of longer periods between changes
that amsoil claims your safe to do
and 2ndly when they drained the oil to check it
it was very thick
they told me i was using too heavy a weight
however it was amsoils 5-30 that for some reason got very heavy
to cut to the point
it was up to me to hire a lawyer and fight this
i sure hope no one thinks amsoil will help you
and after talking with a lawyer he explained that the costs of his fee's to fight the motor companies lawyers would go far past the cost of me paying for the repairs myself
which by the way is what i had to do
not to mention the lawyers consultation fee

Your statement is unfounded. That site is moderated and everyone registered. My guess is that you use anon names to flame the Amsoil guy on this site and that you are angry that you can't flame him over there.
John N,
I've been using Amsoil for 20 yrs. Steve is not my dealer and he gets no benefit from me telling you a better forum to see his posts without flames. I believe Steve is a good guy and Amsoil a good company with an excellent oil and solid reputation.
My family used to be in the oil business 20 yrs ago. We supplied Quaker State. QS is "the bottom of the barrel". I am not here to promote Amsoil. Just stop with the flaming. Use whatever you want to, just not QS.

Message: The only oil in my engine since draining the factory oil has been Mobil 1. As for the rest they have never been changed until last weekend (at 108,500 miles).
I ordered all AMSOIL to replace with, and I must say, granted the trans needed it bad. I noticed the smoother shifting from the very start. After one week 550 miles, I only noticed a slight to almost no color change in the engine oil, previous Mobil 1, would change color in a day or two. I feel running my usual filter NAPA 1085 Gold, changing it every 3,000 miles and just topping the oil off, until the extended 25,000 mile complete drain, the color will stay closer to new.
I just wonder if anyone else uses this method, I know they offer a extended life filter, but I would feel better to at least change the filter at the recommended intervals.
