Subject: Trans flush IP: Logged
Message: I got an 02 dakota 4x4 with a 3.9L. Just wondering where u connect the lines for a transmission flush. my buddy just started working at a quick lube place and we can use there machine after hours, we looked for the lines up front on the cooler and you gotta rip half the front end apart. Just wondering if there is an easier way of doing it. Thanx for the help.

Message: Duh.
Those lines come out of the transmission, don't they?
If you still don't get it here's a hint - disconnect the lines at the transmission.

Message: Your buddy is working for Quicky Lube and doesn't know enough about cars to know where the transmission lines are? That figures.
You either disconnect them from the transmission or from the radiator. Do yourself and everyone else a big favor, break down and spend a few bucks on a haynes repair manual.

Message: If the fluid is not too dirty don't worry about a flush. Do a drop-pan service. Break open and inspect filter for any clutch material or metal.
Clean pan---replace filter and pan gasket (unless it's permanent) and fill to spec. Add Lube Guard
or other supplement for cooler running temp.

Message: Do it right and drop the pan, then change the filter.
