Subject: Lifter question IP: Logged
Message: When you install the roller lifters in the bores, does the bleed hole on the 1 side go upwards facing the intake or point downwards facing the block or does it really even matter? I replaced all of my lifters due to rattling on start up and found 4 that were bled down and I could compress the plunger about a 1/4". The new lifters had a paint mark on the side with the bleed hole so I am assuming that you would install them upwards facing toward the intake bottom so you can see the paint mark, otherwise why would they mark them.......what do you think??

Message: The new ones go in oriented the same way as the old ones.
Gotta pay attention to those little details.
Not knowing year, model and engine, it's hard to be more specific.

Message: I found the answer. The service manual says to install the lifter with the bleed hole facing toward the intake manifold. So I have them in the right way after all. Thanks for your responses.
