Subject: 3.9L Performance Clutch IP: Logged
Message: 1991 Dakota LA 3.9L, Looking on summit all they have is a stock replacement clutch when i search by truck but when I search by engine I found kits that had same Input diameter (1") and Spline count of 23 (I belive Magnums are 1.25" and 23 spline) Can I simply use a LA318 clutch kit it has same diameter shaft and spline count... I asked summit and the response I got was a part number for a jeep clutch for a magnum engine.... I basically want a Centerforce or a Zoom clutch kit for it so its deffinately beefyer than the stock clutch I can get several OE replacements but again thats not what I want any words of wisdom would be much appriciated I assume so long as its got the correct disk diameter input shaft diameter and spline count and is for LA 3.9L V6 or 5.2L or 5.9L as they are all in the same engine family.

Message: jegs sells one made by centerforce. It's a dual friction for like 315.00. It claims to have 90% more holding power.

Message: Shameless self bumping anyone else got any words of wisdom? The Centerforce one there is mostlikely for a Magnum... as for the 3.9L thats all ceneterforce makes but I dont see why one for an LA318 would not work on my LA239? sure it may not be intended for the 3.9 and you wont find it in any catalogs for a 3.9 but i dont see why it wouldnt work...
