Message: Alright....
I have been working on a project for the
last couple weekends on making an eletric
supercharger. So far i have just been
working on the circuit designs coverting
DC power To Ac to run a blower i have made.
My question is.
what CFM is good for the Gen III v6
and or boost. Right now, I am able
to produce 1200 CFM running of a the
trucks/12 volt batterie.
Just thought i would need some insight on this.
So i got a lot of CFM, now what do i need to
put the system together?
thanks for your time

Message: First thing they will ask is: 1200 CFM in what? like 3" tube 2" or what?
1200 CFM in a 2" tube going into a v6 intake isnt much because pressure comes into play.
S/C's not only flow CFM but they pressurize.
You will also run into a problem of your fan not being able to spin faster than the engine needs at higher RPM and the blades wont be able to get out of the way of the intakes natural suction.
Good luck, the force is strong with you my little Jew, lol
Scott
BTW, how do you know its 1200 CFM? do you have a flow bench or something?

Message: what are you using as a "blower"... i read a article when a guy asked a tech in a mag about using a blower motor for a supercharger....
first off it stated what fazdak said.... blowers and turbos pressurize... and all that blower motor will do is slow the air charge down.
look at the fins on a blower motor and then look at the wheels of a turbo or supercharger... there is a reason why they are called "compressor wheels"
good luck though fabbing something up!

Message: Twisted Pair - There is an electric supercharge already out called an E-Ram... but it only runs at WOT, and only produces about 1psi boost... To get enough boost, you would have to have a larger electric motor, and a power-source that would adequately supply that motor. That means more wieght in the vehicle and using up space to fit everything in the vehicle... the Extra weight would mostly likely negate the power increase.
Efficiency(energy from a specific amount of work) and weight(the less the better) are the two main elements of making a vehicle faster.
Example: MP R/T heads are more efficient than stock heads...therefore the R/T heads will produce more power.
Hope this helps a little!

anyway
i can't imagine that any electric motor would be able to produce that much power with just a battery.
why cant u pump a/c into the intake??

i just went to the e-max site you guys are talking about and it sounds kinda like a cool deal. now seriously, what are the negetives on this system that you guys see?

What Mods have you done? Here's what I've got, and I have plenty of passing power on the freeway (of course, sticks generally have more because we can drop into 4th at will)
1 - Airaid Intake w/K&N Filter
2 - IAT Sensor relocated to Airaid tube
3 - TPS Voltage Adjust to .78v
4 - Autolite Spark Plugs
5 - Home-ported V6 Throttle Body
=-On Order-=
1 - Accel Ignition Coil & Harness
2 - Borg & Warner Cap and Rotor
3 - 9mm Spark Plug Wires
4 - 180 Degree T-stat
5 - Jet Stage II Module
=-Getting Soon-=

cant figure out where the iat sensor is, i know you guys say #2 intake runner, but i need some pictures. what did that tps adjustment do?
so that electric fan is more or less a ricer toy from what i gather on the i-net. i might be better to get a fan from a leaf blower and put it somewhere under the hood (not attatched to anything) and turn it on to get your joll's off.

Message: Check this site for more "specific" instructions on IAT relocation. I read it once and did it -- no big whoop. There is another site out there that has a diagram, but if you're not sure what an intake runner is, just look for the described sensor. Trust me, you can't miss it on the manifold... Look under your accelerator cables.

Message: i believe bernd had the e-ram on his truck a year or two ago. found something like 16-20 horsepower (i forget). But the last time i saw the cost it was around $300. let's..... $300 for 16-20 horsepower, or go spend $350 for headers to get about 10 horsepower..... or $240 on a chip for about 10 horsepower... from everything i have heard about it, the only thing that would discourage me from getting it would be the dentist drill sound.

Message: For once I have to back Black. oh shee it!
He's right about an auto having redeemable qualitys, you go ahead and preach your 5spd theories and then meet me at the track and we'll put some money down on who can stay the most consistant time wise, and in bracket racin that what its all about.
btw, if you call down shifting a manual "at will" and pushin a button or pullin a lever down to get a lower gear not "at will", then friend I think you need to go back to elementary school and relearn some basic definitions.
btw2, I have run autos in high performance cars and trucks since the mid 80's and have never had one "die", if you have it came from poor maintenance.
Thanks, Scott

Message: ODs are on a button now? How wierd...
Every vehical I've ever had has had a standard tree shifter automatic, of course none had OD... I think they all had 350 Turbos in them, not so sure about the Chevelle...
One had a shift kit, I liked that one, shifted nice and hard. Sure, the automatic may be more consistant, but I find the manuals to be a lot more fun. Personal preferance.
I should note that I went through two auto-trannies by doing the 'drop it down a notch for passing' trick, so I -definatly- don't recommend that. One blew out at 65000 miles, the other went 2 months after rebuild. My brother had a Delta 88 with overdrive, but the carburator was wrong so the tranny kick-down didn't work. He manaually shifted. Transmission lasted 3 months.
You guys manually shift your automatics all you want, but I'm of the theory that if you -wanted- manual shifting, ya shoulda bought a manual.
I'm getting 20mpg in my 5-speed now, don't find it annoying in traffic either. I find -traffic- annoying... darned I-4 parking lot... darned blonde in the convertable putting on lipstick -and- yacking in her cell phone while trying to change lanes...
Now, I don't know what nerve I touched by stating my opinion that manually shifting an auto isn't good for it, and that having to floor it to kick it down isn't true shifting at-will (definatly not good for MPG), but I really resent the hostility being directed towards me over it. You people like your automatics, fine. I like my manual, let's leave it at that. When I ordered my Dak, I test drove an auto, and didn't care for it.
Probally has something to do with me learning to drive a manual transmission. I've been driving them since I was 12 (living on a farm ruled), while I don't mind Autos, I don't find them nearly as fun. I like the control having a 5-speed gives me. Anyone who's ever had to rock a vehical out of a rut knows what I'm talking about.

Message: Yup...ran the "Super eRam" (Dual setup) about two years ago and registered 1psi on the Autometer gauge. While it did work and did give me some decent gains...you'd be better off by spending the money on a real supercharger (6# boost). Unless you can find a way to reduce the amperage required to make the 750CFM and 6lbs boost on an electrical unit..stick with a mechanical S/C.

May be worth looking into (if the company is still around). It's not so much the amount of volume...but the pressure behind it. Then, you'll also need the fuel enrichment circuit as well.
