Subject: Steering wheel vibration: HELP!
IP: Logged

Message:
I recently had a valve stem replaced in my from right wheel.

Not sure if it has anything to do with this.

My truck is a 2000 Dakota 3.9l Standard Cab.

This past week, I have been having massive vibration with the whole truck, especially the steering wheel. This only occurs when I have the gas pedal pushed, right around 1500 RPM around 30 MPH.

I am not a mechanic, and not sure if it has anything to do with the wheel. All tires are at 32psi. Wheels are all torqued to 100lbs.

I am planning on taking the tuck in to the mechanic, just checking if anyone has experienced this problem.

Thanks for your time.

I had almost the same problem but it turned out that my transfer case was cracked all the way around and the needle bearings in the rear u-joint were toast causing crazy vibration around 30mph and also 75mph. May not be your cause but its and idea.....

could also be mud in your calipers or possible wheel being off balance, you said you had the valve stem replaced in the front right tire right? maybe they knocked off the wheel weight thus causeing a vibration at highway speeds.

I had messed around under the truck today.

I did find that the drive shaft u-joint, closest to the tranny, has some side-to-side play in it. Maybe around 1/16"

It is going to the shop tomorrow for a checkup.
