Message: When you bought the new U-joint it should be complete, I have changed U-joints with just a hammer and a few sockets, but if you use a vise that's the best way. I think you will need a 7/16 wrench to remove the bolts at the rear end, and at the least a clean rag to put over the end of the transmission to keep the oil from coming out, or making a big mess. Then with the drive shaft at the vise use a big socket to act as a receiver for the end you are going to push out.At this point you will only have 2 ends to remove, the ones in the end of the drive shaft. You just need to place the drive shaft in the vise with the big socket on one side, and a small socket that will fit inside the the joint housing of the drive shaft then just tighten the vise and the small socket will push the other end into the big socket, it probably won't push it all the way out so you will need a big pair of channle locks to pull the end out. then just push the other end out the other way and use the channle locks to pull out the last piece. Some have locks in the ends of the drive shaft where the u-joint goes if so, be sure to remove them, a pair of needle nose plyers work great for removing them. When you are going to put the new joint in, carefully start one of the joint ends into the housing then put the X part of the joint into the end. then put the other side in and slowly press them into position making sure the cross is going into the end pieces, some times they will slide in ok, some times not. Just be careful cause there are a lot of small needle bearings in each joint end, you don't want one to fall out. after you get it almost all the way in, you can use the vise to finish the job, and put the locks, if used you will have a new set to replace the old ones you took out. If you can look at a repair manual that would be a big help as well. after you get it together then you can add grease, the joint should have new grease in it to begin with. but if you think it needs more you can grease it after you get it altogether.
Good luck
