Message: 9 mpg is ridiculous.
Complete tune up, O2 sensors, EGR valve, proper tire inflation, alignment and probably most important: driving habits.

Message: 9 mpg is very bad
You need to check that carb out sounds like it
has a leaky needle
get a rebuild kit
and as was said good tuneup and check the timing
posible draging brake bad wheel or axle bearing
something is wrong here

Message: Well I dont stomp on the gas all the time.lol. I try to be as easy as i can on this truck so it will last...it has 163000 on it and i gotta get it close to 200000. I timed the truck correctly and it had no balls. If i were to "stomp" on the gas, it would fall on its face. Thats what made me advance the timing about 20 degrees or so. I build quad motors so I have a general understanding of truck motors, but im sure there is more than I know. What are these "halo plugs" i have never heard of them, and as I asked before, will a pipe benifit me?

Message: lol, trust me timing advance aint gonna help alot, ive got an 88. its got 220000 on it and it only has a$$ behind it once its off the line. at the line u can stomp all u want but u can take off running faster than itl move.
halo's are the latest n gratest sparkplugs. been reading larry's posts about them and they seem to blow past the competition in performance and quality.
exhaust, wouldnt go any bigger than 2.5 if thast what ur asking. my exhuast hasent shown any improvement in gas milage

Message: Im gonna head down to the junk yard and check out those carbs. What year are you running and getting 23mpg???! I would love 15 let alone that much!!!
So your saying its normal for these motors to bog down when you step on it? Also is there a idle or air screw on the carbs any where? Im sure there is a cap on it so you cant mess with it.
