Message: A guy came in the shop with some problems turned
out he had a bosch o2 that went bad and fouled his
plugs
we replaced the sensor put a set of NGK FR5's in
and it ran great
This guy took things into his own hands
2 rocker switches in a box asked him if it was
for the electric fan he said no
Under hard excelleration or WOT wide open throttle
the fuel and timing are done by temp not the o2
what he did was use 2 dpdt switches and 2
resistors
normal driving off but than switch these 2
switches for IAT and engine temp
IAT 55 degrees
engine temp 172
I watched them on a scanner when he switched them
more timing and fuel and a nice boost in
performance by faking out the computer this is
basicly what a chip does
Telling the comp the engine is colder and the
incoming air is colder richens the mixture and
advances the timing
It actualy worked very well
He was also very pleased with the NGK plugs he had
stock champs and said it never ran that well
He would not spend the money for the halo's came
back 3 days later and said the ngk's made that
much diff I want a set of halo's
2 days later he came back again and said he never
thought a spark plug could make that much
differance bought another set of halo's for his
wifes durango
Like the sain goes you tried the rest now try the
best

total stock???

Message: Ya think he would give you details on the install? sounds interesting, lost on the resistors needed.

Message: The advance was around 4 to 5 degree's
injectors about 1.5 ms mili secshis would drop
the A/F ratio into the 13's maybe high 12's
the comp always trys to maintain a 14.7 A/F
14.7 is an economy ratio
He has all the mods and boltons intake done but
you will notice the gains even on a stock motor
This is not a guessing game you would need a
scanner use the temp to resistance chart start
high and slowly change the resistor value untill
you get what you want every truck will read a
little diff and it must be running with alt
output
can not be under 170 on temp
can not be under 50 on IAT
or it will trip codes and can be switched when
running
The switches dpdt double pull double tagal
radio shack
wire in from sensor power side common
1 side sensor
1 side resister
to computer
you would only want them on when you want a power
boost off for normal driving or your gas mileage
will drop right out
If you have a scanner when first started watch
temp when it hits 170 nail it this is how it
will be when switches are on once it warms upto
opp temp it will pull back timing and fuel and
perf will drop you can try this yourself just
to see how much you would gain
You can set them up like the IAT adjusters with
a 50k pot and a 1k 1/8 watt resister than you
can adjust it were you want it running reading
temp live on scanner 1/4 watt resister will not
work right with the adjuster must be 1/8 5% or
better valuefrom like jamsco electronics parts
warehouse
This would be something for those who have some
knolage of wireing if you do not understand this
do not even attempt it
This is the same princeble the tunners like the
SMT6 from perfict power work interupt and fake
out the computer
The SMT6 will advance or retard timing 30 degrees
compansate fuel 30 to 50% and read A/F ratio and
o2 sensor voltage if your a real gear head this
is the way to go
www.perfictpowerusa.com
SMT kit $407
set up for your truck $75 with specific wire
diagram also for easy install
comes with manuals and developers manual on CD
lap top needed
This is the ultimat tunning setup you can tune
for fuel economy or power better than any perf
computer, chip or tunner out there $500
you can compensate all sensors total control
This also is not for the meek some dyno time and
your running peak potential of your motor
Dodge viper an 87 hp gain SMT6 unit just tweaking
the computer some of the super charged cars and
trucks just over 100 hp gains
Now thats the cats a$$
