Subject: Axle Ratio...... IP: Logged
Message: How can I find out the axle ratio that came stock with my truck? I have a 2002 3.9L Regular Cab auto transmission. Also, I'm trying to figure out the towing capacity of my truck, but I can't do that without my axle ratio. If anyone can help out in any of these areas it would be much appreciated.

Message: there should be a tag on the rear diff. but look on the inside of the glovebox lid. you should have a sticker there that will list that along with other info.

Message: under hood tag or in glove box
std ratio was 3.55
trailer tow option had 3.91
4.10 special order
if your truck runs about 1800rpm at 60 its 3.55
the 3.91 would be 2000 2100 at 60

Message: my bro-in law has an '02 SXT CC w/ 3.9 auto and 3.21 gears. i think it depended on the year whether it's 3.91 or 3.92.

Message: Hey daddio think manufactures are going to add another tooth to ring gear because of year to year change that would be significant change in manufacturing and in the long run a few more $$$ for us consumers to pay, just facts of life LOL... and not being a smart!ss .

No, not really PETE. it's probably more like the actual ratio is 3.915:1 and some years they rounded it down and some up. Who knows.
