Subject: Roller Rocker Arms? IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone recommend any certain type for the V-6 Dak.? I'm looking at the Crowler 1.6 and the 1.7. They seem pretty good but has anyone had any experience changing these and did they see much of a horsepower improvement? Greg

Message: Been running the Crower 1.6:1 for almost 2 years now. Never had a problem with them...just set them and forget them. If you don't plan on changing out the cam, go with the 1.7:1 for a little bit more power. You'll need to ding (or remove) the baffles under the valve covers for the 1.7's though.

Message: I bought Mopar performance valve covers but haven't gotten them yet in the mail. So I'll look for that. Yeah, I think the cam change won't happen for me so I'll go with the 1.7. Does this change the idle much or is there anything on the pcm I should know? I really apprieciate your help and I would recomend other owners of v-6 Dak's to go to your site at speedtweeks. Hopefully soon I'll be getting that 48mm tb. Thanks, Greg

Message: What?? There are Mopar Performance valve covers for the 3.9?! What's the part number, if you guys have it handy? I looked through their catalog less than a year ago and couldn't find them for the six; very disappointed. [wringing hands] Oh boy oh boy oh boy!

Message: Yes there is. I'm at work right now but at home I have the web site that sells them. I know it starts with a Z. Just can't remember right now but you can get valve covers for them. I don't think they are the black crinkled type but they are chrome. At least that's the one's I ordered. They're susposed to be Mopar Performance. Maybe an off brand. I'll post it later. Greg

P4452042 are the Mopar Performance Valve Covers for the 88-90 V6's. Nothing for the '91+ models.

I'll have more details on this after I get back (November 4th).

Message: The site for the v-6 valve covers is at www.jegs.com. I'm not sure if they are the black crinkled kind or are chrome but they do have it. About $55 for a set. Right on Bernd, yeah I'm sure a lot of v-6's would love to see valve covers come out. They're really isn't much a of a selection out there. Greg

Those are for the 88-90 V6's only. They will not fit the '91/92+ models.

Message: Hey Bernd, if I may ask (ignore me if not), how'd that valve covers meet go? You'll carry them on Speedtweaks if they're made, right? I'm looking forward to it with eager anticipation and a can of high-temp red spraypaint that doesn't require curing in hand!

Message: I need to call him tomorrow and see what he can do for us V6 (and V8) folks. This includes: 3.9/4.7/5.2/5.9L engines.
What you can do, int he mean time...is remove your valve covers, clean them and bead blast them...then, paint them with the Black/Grey Speckled Zynolite paint. It looks really trick and can withstand the engine temperature.

Message: Hey Bernd, can standard "high-temp" paint withstand the temps at the valve covers? It's supposedly good up to 500 degrees and made by "plasti-kote". Also, what does "bead-blast" mean? Lastly, you think I should scuff them up with steel wool to help adhesion? A friend of mine has a sand-blasting box; perhaps I should remove the stock black paint for a better grip? Please forgive my ignorance, I just have fond memories of the bright red valve cover on those "old" Daytona R/T's with the turbo charged 2.2's with 224 horses that I drooled over when a teenager.

Message: Yup...sure will. Just prep the metal properly and you shouldn't have any problems.
Bead-Blast - Snad Blast but with small beads. (Same principle)

Message: Just a quick comment. I think it's really bad that the company that builds the Dak does not offer something as easy as valvecovers for us 6 owners. Considering that about 70-80% of daks built come with a v-6
