Subject: transmission question IP: Logged
Message: I recently took my 04 dakota V6 to the dealer because of a check engine light being on. They said nothing was wrong...it was just a false alarm, but that the software on the on board computer needed updating. They updated it and ever since then, my transmission is really slow shifting when accelerating. I took it back and they told me that it was probably a result of the software update that prolongs the life of the transmission by dropping engine power while shifting. He said if there was a problem with the transmission, the check engine light would come on. This sounds kind of fishy to me...what do you recommend??

Message: They gave you a death flash
This was done on the 3.9 obd2 to 03 when they
had ping they would pull timing and make it a real
dog
I would talk with another dealer or direct to
chrysler in detroit
sounds to me like you have a bad sensor in the
trans but not bad enough to trip the mil light
I have never heard of this in any dodge or jeep
with the 3.7
