Subject: mileage? IP: Logged
Message: Hey I was looking at a 2000 V6 Dodge Dakota, currently has 86,000 miles on it and has had 4 previous owners. Not knowing about trucks, how long do Dakota's usually last on miles? Is it worth buying? Thanks for all the help.

Message: i currently have a '00 QC dak that has 70,xxx miles and the only issue i had was upper balljoints replaced which is covered under a 10yr/100k mileage extension because of the recall.
they are good trucks. now having 4 previous owners in 4 years doesn't look to good to me though. "is it worth buying?" that's subjective. check out www.nada.com, www.kbb.com or www.edmunds.com.

Message: Thanks for the quick response. Keep in mind that it's 4 previous owners in 7 years, not 4 years. I checked out the websites and actually found it on edmuds.....

Message: just from looking at that 1 picture i can tell you it's had some body work done on the front end. the top of that bumper should be black if it is truly a Sport. it also looks like the bumper and valance are one piece as they did on '01 and up. my '00 has a steel blacj bumper exposed. on '01's & up the steel bumper was covered. same material as the lower valance.
carfax will only tell you what info the previous owners gave. and it may not be the truth. check it close to see if it was ever wrecked. if you know what to look for you can tell right away.
i.e paint overspray, body panels with uneven gaps, runs in the paint, etc...

Message: 86,000 miles its just broke in
check out allpar.com the 500,000 mile club and
you will see many daks with over that
As long as the rg oil changes and tune ups were
down these things have a excellent life span
I have 120,00 on my 4x4 it uses no oil has all
the bolt ons and mods 95 truck 92 motor the
org motor was stroked
I also have many customers with over 250,000 miles
the weakest part is the timing chain
Sam at socaldakota.com sells the JP performance
chain and gear set for $75 use that with the
tensioner and you have a system that will last
easily 250,000 miles
switching to a good sythetic oil will also increse
performance gas mileage and longjevity
