Subject: 93 V6 Coolant In Oil

Message:
My uncle has a 93 Dakota with a V6. He has coolant in his oil. I've done a compression test and ruled out the head gaskets. Does anyone know of any issues with this engine or have an idea of how the coolant is mixing with the oil? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, it never overheated. He did an oil change not too long ago and it was fine. He's been driving it every day since without a problem. He checked the oil a few days ago and there was coolant in the oil pan.

Could be an intake gasket, if he is using the red anti-freeze GM has a lot of problems using the red stuff, and a lot of intake gasket problems, just an idea. Could be a cracked head as well, but still could be a head gasket even though the compression was good. I doubt if its anything serious just a gasket would be my guess.
Good luck.

now in this year in an attempt to get more power they ported the valves but they made them so big that the little metal between the valves would crack. i had to replace the head when i first bought mine and this may cause antifreeze in the oil but it would also cause missing and compression loss but its all i got

compression test wont show a leaking head gasket or cracked head - wrong test
you need to pressure test

pump air into cylinders (some tool used through spark plug holes as compression test)

put 100 psi or so and 1 at a time of course
with rad. cap off look for air bubbles
