I know I'm losing fuel pressure while the truck sits, so my assumption is that it has something to do with my fuel system. It takes a few cranks to get it started in the morning or less if I cycle the fuel pump for the 3 seconds it runs at KEY ON. However, infrequently when I've gotten down the road a bit I'll get a sputter that will last for what sounds like one run through the firing order and then never happens again.
I can only assume that the fuel system is getting air and it's purging the air out through the injectors. Question is, where is the air getting in from most likely? I've got no codes that I'm aware of ( I have a scanner ) and other than that the truck runs great. On occasion while Idling I'll get surge in RPMs, but the IAC solonoid has been replaced already, so I'm wondering if there isn't something else affecting its operation.
I've got a fuel pressure tester( still in the box ), but what would be the best way to pinpoint my problem.
I figure if it's the injectors, then I'm going to upgrade them. If it's the regulator...well, that's in the tank and obviously not much fun.

What are you waiting for check the pressure
49psi +- 5 and should hold this for hour or 2
First check your elect connections
The pump is in the gas tank how could it suck air
master pump
comes with new
pump
filter
regulator
guage sender
when the pumps begain to go they will act up more
often when the tank is under half full because
they run hot have a thermister a thermo switch
that will shut down when hot

I'm a procrastinator, that's why ( and working 67 hours last week didn't help my cause either ) I haven't checked the fuel pressure yet ;)
It runs the same whether I have a full or low tank of fuel.
How much of a timing fluctuation should I see at idle with a scan tool?

They will flucuate a little at idle on the timing
between like 10 to 18
When you drive down the road a level road steady
throttle they will hold prety much steady when
you let off it will advance when you step on it
a little it will pull back timing
should peak when you let off around 44 this also
tells you your map is working ok
sputering when cold
bad cap rotor or arcing plug wire
temp sensor engine or IAT
lazy o2 sensor ngk.com for new o2
corraded conection check and clean
a bad coil will also do this
posible dist pickup this can be taped with a stick
pin digital volt meter 0 to +5 fluctuating
while cranking with fuel pump relay removed
just a few things to look at
if it runs fine otherwise I would suspect a spark
problem
with a scanner and digital voltmeter you can check
everything on these trucks
