Subject: e3 resaults bad IP: Logged
Message: After more resaults from testing the e3 they are
not worth anything
I bought 3 sets and had 2 of my customers test
them with me as I do many things to get a good
test resaults
18 spark plugs
in my truck after 1000 miles power droped off
no consistancy or quility here 1 the ring ran
so hot it was blue
customer 1 tured black and 1 just quit fireing
the other guy just lost power as I did
they do not hold up in these mag motors at all
so much for that test of a spark plug
I put new FR5's back in there trucks and the halo
back in mine
stay away from them
I rate these as listed with the halo still #1
champ
autolite
NGK V power
Halo
I expected a little better than that

Message: Larry, you are a wealth of information, I changed from autolites to Bosch plus2, I am pleased so far with them, but I have less than 200 miles on them, the next time I change plugs I am going to go with the halos, it sounds like you have had very good luck with them. I am glad so many people are willing to share to help others on this site. Thanks to everyone.

Message: Larry
I had tried the E3's (3.64) in my 97 dak last October, at the time I got the best mileage on my pickup. This thing has alot mods including an MSD ignition. I ran the plugs about 1500 miles before switching to a set of Halos. When I pulled the plugs they were a tan color. This is perplexing, the E3 should perform nearly as well as the Halos but don't. A guy on the performance board used th E3 in a Dak with the 4.7 and develop problems after 20,000 miles. S much for a product that won't last.
92 and 97 Daks both with many mods.

I will never use them again, maybe its just me but I am entitled to my opinion. And it sounds a little like Larry's!! Who would of thought? Great Minds do think alike.

Message: The halo has new numbers now
the old H9a same as autolite 3924 stock range
H9b 3923 1 colder gap .045
I am running the H9a right now this is the first
set of halo's I ever bought waiting for my
B-DR15YC-1 to arive take 3 to 5 days
I keep 3 sets on the shelf of each and every time
I go to get some they are gone LOL so I put my
old ones from my tool box in after removing the
junk e3
We install a lot of halo's and have never had any
complaints lots of compliments on how well they
run in every vehicle we have used them in more
power and better gas mileage in all the 3.7 and
4.7 show 3mpg gains with the halo's 1 to 3 on the
old 3.9 and 5.2 mag engines I only got 19.5 with
both the NGK and the e3 22.06 with the halo well
I did hit 20.5mpg with the NGK so a solid 1.5
2mpg improvement
I really expected better resaults from the e3 I
was very disapointed
The new halo stock is the B-DR17YC-1
1 colder is the B-DR15YC-1
These are permenent gap
-6 = 0.020"
-3 = 0.060"
-1 = 0.045"
no dash = 0.036"
Heat Ranges.
Coldest is 14, Hottest is 19.
ElmerFudd
The Autolite
92 to 95 .035
96 and up .040
with MSD box and coil .060
NGK FR4 stock or 1 colder FR5
92 95 .035
96 up .040
with msd box and coil .055
The old halo H9a or H9b or the new halo's are
gaped at .045 and run excellent with stock or
msd system
My opinion its the best plug I have ever used
5 year 100,000 mile garantee on the halo and in
the hundreds I have sold never had 1 fail yet
been using them for over 5 years now in all diff
vehicles
As tony the tiger would say "THERE GREAT" LOL
I also still eat frosted flakes

Message: I'm running a set of E3s right now in my Dakota, ignition is mostly stock except for a higher output coil. I have had a gain in mileage of 2 mpg in gas mileage from 19 to 21 in a 1996 club cab v6. I run a v8 throttle body, k&n air filter, magnaflow muffler, cps mod. I run 10w-30 Pensoil and NAPA oil filter.

Message: My mpg just went from 19 to 21 in my 92 Dak V-6, too. But it's because of the warmer weather. So make sure you look back at what your mileage was during this time previous years before reporting gains. It may be a real improvement, or other things like the weather.

Message: Bob,
I live in South Texas, I don't live in the cold north like you do. The bonafide increase came from the plugs, I check my mileage closely and we don't switch from a winter blend to smmer blend either.

Message: I put about 500 miles on my Bosch plus2 plugs and they started to run rough so I changed to the Halo's and so far I have had good luck, (only 200 miles though) I haven't checked my mileage yet, so I'm not sure just what that will do, it SEEM'S like I am getting better mileage, but until I fuel again I won't know for sure. I'll keep you posted.
Faster starts, smoother running
88 Dakota 3.9 5 speed 4X4 only mod is complete reman 14000 miles ago, new cat, and 2 1/2 exh. from cat back to the end of tail pipe, I am using a Thrush turbo muffler (cheap) and sounds good, not real luod.
