Message: In the 40 plus years I had my own shop I never seen an oil pump with bearings.

Message: I think an oil pump has to have at least bushing bearings, but with all the oil going through them I doubt if you would have much trouble with the pump. Sometimes they just quit pumping oil, not good!

Message: Gerotor pumps only stop pumping oil when tolerance between the rotor and the gear(if u want to call it that)are out of spec aka worn out. This happens due to long life, debree or air in the system. But most automotive pumps are way too low pressure to worry about air hurting them so debree and long life. Think of them as a gear turning inside another gear
