Subject: turbo city dual intake IP: Logged
Message: Just wanted to know if the Turbo city dual intake can work on a genIII 3.9L dakota. I know it works with the 5.2 and 5.9 but what about a sixer. Let me know if they do or if anyone has a a pic of one under their hood.

Message: I have an '02 Quad cab with the v-6. It fits just fine. I don't have a pic, but it does work. I put mine on just over two weeks ago.
You'll have to shorten the (I believe it's the...) breather hose (the spongy one anyway) but it fits well and works like a charm. I feel a lot more power than I had before now that the computer has learned that it's got more air!
NOTE, clean the threads out before you screw the plug in on the right side. You'll know what I mean if you get one. I had a post on this in another intake thread... The plug they supply is a plastic one and it's really easy to get the threads buggered up on it...

When ordering, tell them your truck and what size engine it has. The guy who helped me was cool.

Message: Hi Rykwan: I have no idea if it works better than a single intake (nothing to compare it to).
kotaon20s, I keep hearing people say things like that but to me, logically, once you get up to about 10 mph, the air coming into the engine will be cool anyway due to cool air coming through the grille. Yeah, it mixes with the hot air, I know it's not a cold air intake, but it's not marketed as a cold air intake. I saved a few bucks by not getting the FIPK or Gen-anything K& N jobbie (enough to buy the Dynomax muffer by my estimate), and am really happy with it. Again, I have nothing to compare my intake to, but unless you've tried the Dual intake and can conclusively say that it isn't as good as a K & N, neither do you. This isn't meant to be inflammatory, just an observation. That said, I'd love to see a comparison between a cold air intake and the Dual I have, just to see if the difference is that noticeable. But, as I read here on these forums, if I wanted to "unlock" more horsies from my engine, I had to do a few things including an intake, and being on a budget, I went the way I went.
I have noticed a large gain in performance in my truck, and I needed it. I have a v-6, in a heavy quad cab, and I ain't the smallest guy either to boot. Combine the intake with a DynoMax superturbo muffler and you're improving the output of your truck noticeably. I wish I'd heard of these things when I had my last Dakota! Of course, I might not have traded it in then. ; )
