Subject: It Just Stopped IP: Logged
Message: There I was, blasting down Highway 13 in the pre-dawn, when the engine stopped. Quick! Flashers and pulled to the shoulder. Popped the hood and checked to see if the coil wire had burned-off again. Nope. Checked fuses. Ok. Pulled the fuel relay and looked at it. What else is there to do?
Just for kicks, I tried and it started right up, and away I went, happy.
Thirty minutes later, on the freeway, the engine stopped. Dumped it in neutral and hit the starter. Started right up, and we continued at 65 MPH, with nobody around me any the wiser.
What the heck is going on?

Message: A (ugh) dealer is a mile from me, but I didn't even waste the time because their stock answer is; Leave it with us and you'll have it back Tuesday. My mechanic is in Hawaii until next month. Good business.
I checked everything, including adjusting the little orange tab that shows what gear I'm in; on the remote chance a switch is attached somewhere.
I've got the super-duper AAA package, with 100 miles towing; so screw it, I'm going to work.
We'll see.

Message: First you need to determin what you are losing
fuel or spark
next time it quits pull a plug if wet spark if dry
fuel
Than you can determine what needs to be checked

Message: Next day I got five miles and it happened again.
Did not pass 'GO', went directly to Monument Car Parts and bought a coil.
Got to the end of the parking lot, to go home and install it. Died again.
Went back, figuring a parts store might have tools, if I needed them.
Took 5 minutes to unplug two wires from the old coil and plug them in the new coil, toss it on the cylinder bank, and leave.
Work took me a couple hundred miles, with no problems, so we can presume PROBLEM SOLVED!
Thanks, everybody.

Message: You were lucky, when my coil died it refused to restart. I for some reason had a spare coil in my truck with me, so I consider myself some what lucky, but I carry a bunch of tools and weird stuff, some off of other junk some stuff I've chaged for my self, or others.
Glad to hear you found the problem.
